CAI has been asked by State Representative Rosemary Brown to communicate a statement expressing the Representative’s views on certain ways community associations in the Poconos may help to mitigate and control the spread of the COVID-19 virus throughout the Poconos region. In response to the Representative’s request, we have made her letter available for your review and consideration.

Please note, CAI does not take a position on whether owners can rent their homes on a short-term basis. However, community associations in the Poconos and the entire country are faced with a once-in-a-lifetime health challenge which warrants that all of us support effective legal and personal means to limit the rapid spread of the Covid-19 virus. If your community is discussing options concerning short term rentals, please be sure to check with counsel to determine your legal authority, and consider whether your community association staffing levels are sufficient to permit you to take such action given the restrictions imposed on associations by the Governor. Failure to act properly could expose associations to legal risks and claims.
