Discovering an Excellent Nomination

It’s CAI Excellence Awards Season once again! How can you make an award-worthy award nomination? Awards Committee Chair Courtney Dickinson-Mukamuri (Eiseman Construction) and Secretary Margo Ferro (Tip Top Property Solutions) provide you with some time-tested, award-winning tips in this timely blog post!

Every year the CAI Keystone Annual Excellence Awards Gala comes and goes, but has it ever been hypothesized what it takes to create an excellent nomination? Following the scientific method, you’ll be well on your way on Discovering Excellence!

Let’s go to the lab!

Step 1: Observation.
Have you ever noticed someone who goes above and beyond the calling in our CAI Keystone Community? How do you take that observation and put it into action?

Step 2: Ask a question.
Does this person or group fit the criteria for one of the awards? What kind of examples can I provide to the nomination committee?

The categories are:

  1. Excellence in Education: have you noticed anyone who has created valuable, relevant and consistent content that educates, attracts and retains the CAI audience?
  2. Excellence in Community Management: have you ever seen a manager impact the community they manage while also supporting the goals and objectives of CAI Keystone?
  3. Excellence in Community Service: have you ever experienced a management company or business partner that has provided exceptional service and customer value to the CAI community?
  4. Chapter Shining Star: have you observed an individual who has been with this chapter for more than 2 years and has demonstrated extraordinary commitment, leadership and contributions to the chapter?
  5. Chapter Rookie of the Year: have you observed an individual who has been with this chapter for less than a year and has demonstrated extraordinary commitment, leadership and contributions to the chapter?

Step 3: Design the perfect nomination.
Be specific. Avoid vague praise by focusing on concrete examples and accomplishments that align with the awards qualifications. Be compelling in expressing the challenges they have overcome and the lasting impact. The perfect nomination is about 5-8 solid sentences per question. This could even include a quote of endorsement from others to add depth and credibility.

Step 4: Observe the results.
Join us at the Annual Awards Gala at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia on December 3rd to see who wins! Nominations are open until October 15 and tickets are on sale now!
