“As someone who grew up attending St. Joe’s basketball camps and cheering on their games with Phil Martelli as head coach, I couldn’t be more excited to hear him speak at the conference! His leadership and passion for the game have always been inspiring, especially since my uncle is a proud St. Joe’s alum. This is a full-circle moment for me!”

About Phil Martelli
Phil Martelli is more than a legendary basketball coach; he is a lifelong mentor, community leader, and advocate for positive change. With a career spanning over 34 years, Phil has left an indelible mark on college basketball, first as head coach at Saint Joseph’s University and most recently as the Associate Head Coach at the University of Michigan. Known for his leadership, integrity, and unmatched dedication, Phil has achieved milestones such as the 2004 Consensus National Coach of the Year and numerous postseason victories. However, if you ask him, his proudest moments go beyond the wins and accolades—they revolve around the lives he’s impacted.
Throughout his career, Phil’s guiding principle has been simple: “Make a Difference.” This mantra has shaped not only his approach to coaching but also his deep commitment to education, service, and community. The Making a Difference Campaign is at the heart of Phil’s current work. His mission is to inspire educators, students, and communities to lead with purpose, build meaningful relationships, and create lasting positive change.
Phil believes that the core of this movement lies in the power of gratitude and the importance of a simple “thank you.” Whether working with a school, a community group, or a corporate team, Phil emphasizes the impact that recognition and appreciation can have in motivating others to be their best selves. Through his presentations, Phil shares real-life stories and lessons from his career—stories of triumph, failure, teamwork, and the transformative power of kindness.
His "Make a Difference" initiative focuses on equipping educators, administrators, and students with the tools they need to foster respect, responsibility, and a sense of service. By encouraging individuals to value real relationships, embrace the power of gratitude, and continually strive for improvement, Phil is empowering others to take the lead in their own communities.
Phil Martelli’s work is not just about delivering motivational speeches; it’s about inspiring a ripple effect of positive action. He believes that when one person decides to make a difference, it spreads—impacting schools, families, workplaces, and beyond.
Phil continues to travel, speak, and mentor with a single goal in mind: to inspire as many people as possible to embrace the power of “thank you,” connect deeply with others, and ultimately, make a lasting difference. Whether you’re in a classroom, boardroom, or locker room, Phil’s message is universal: the ability to create change is in your hands.

Session 3: How Artificial Intelligence (AI) is Shaping the World of Electronic Voting & Virtual Meetings
Presented by Brooke Osiel and Oshadhi Herman, CondoVoter
Join us to learn how artificial intelligence (AI) tools are significantly enhancing electronic voting systems and virtual meeting services in community associations. The presentation will discuss what kind of AI tools can be used in electronic voting systems and virtual meeting services, and how they add value. Learn how integrating AI into electronic voting systems can improve the overall voting experience, increase trust in the process, and ensure more efficient and effective governance in Condo and HOA communities. The following topics will be covered.
- Improved Security: AI can help detect and prevent fraudulent activities by monitoring voting patterns and identifying anomalies. Machine learning algorithms can flag suspicious behavior and ensure that only eligible members are voting.
- Enhanced Accessibility: AI can provide features such as voice recognition, natural language processing, and chatbots to assist users in understanding and navigating the voting process. This can make voting more accessible for individuals with disabilities or those who are not tech-savvy.
- Efficient Vote Counting: AI can automate the vote counting process, ensuring accuracy and speed. This reduces the possibility of human error and provides instant results once the voting period ends.
- Data Analysis: AI can analyze voting data to identify trends and patterns. This can help condo boards and HOAs understand member preferences and make informed decisions in the future. • Personalized Communication: AI can be used to send personalized reminders and notifications to members about upcoming votes, deadlines, and the importance of their participation. This can increase voter turnout and engagement.
- Scalability: AI systems can easily scale to handle large numbers of voters, making it feasible to conduct votes for larger associations without significant additional resources.

Conflicts erupt all the time in community associations, including neighbor to neighbor disputes, and homeowners who may be angry with the board or manager. Some of these situations can get heated because they are very personal in nature – they involve someone’s home, which also is typically the greatest asset they own. One person's passion can be another person's fear, and sometimes, that passion can lead to threats, and actual physical violence. Sergeant Grager will provide timely and useful strategies to de-escalate conflicts in your community.
