Sessions & Speakers

As Philadelphia prepares to host major events like the 250th anniversary of America, the World Cup, and the MLB All-Star Game, local high-rise communities will face unique challenges. This session brings together top public safety and emergency management officials to help you navigate potential impacts—from road closures and protest activity to heightened security and emergency response. Learn what to expect, how to plan ahead, and who to partner with to keep your residents safe and informed.

Panelists:
Stacy A. Irving,
Senior Advisor, Homeland Security Programs & Strategic Partnerships Strategic Intelligence & Information Sharing Division, Delaware Valley Intelligence Center / Philadelphia Police Department

Inspector Michael J. Root, Tactical Division /

Special Operations Bureau, Philadelphia Police Department

Angel Roebuck, Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management

Community Associations can minimize the expense of common area heating, air conditioning, and lighting through the use of energy management systems, high-efficiency and fossil-fuel-free equipment, and more effective designs. Learn about energy audits, the latest HVAC technologies including electrified heating systems, control strategies, as well as the rebates and incentives available for taking steps toward sustainability. Renewable energy options will also be discussed.

Presented by Marco Correia, CoolSys Energy Design

This session will show the benefits of anchors on a building, and review the OSHA standards that are currently in place for high rise work, including window washing, any exterior maintenance, replacing windows, facade studies, painting and power washing, etc.

Presented by Stefan Bright, Corporate Safety Director, Valcourt Group

This presentation will provide a high-level overview of the different HVAC systems that engineers design for high rise buildings. While there are a multitude of HVAC equipment manufacturers, and vendors, the number of fundamental system types that are regularly employed for high-rise building design is surprisingly limited. The presentation will provide an overview of each system type as well as a review of the major pieces of mechanical equipment that make up the system and the role in its operation

Presented by Eric Collins, PE, Principal / Vice President, Becht Engineering BT, Inc.
